Arts Internship Program and Getty Multicultural Internship Program
Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Los Angeles
Arts Internship Program provides undergraduate students with on-the-job training and experience in nonprofit performing, presenting, literary and municipal arts organizations, including community-based organizations like Cornerstone Theater and LA Commons. Getty Multicultural Internship Program provides undergraduate student internships to museums and visual arts organizations, including Plaza de la Raza and St. Elmo Village. Participating organizations "play an important role in molding and shaping potential new workers in the arts sector who may go on to arts leadership positions on staffs or boards."

Jumblies Studio Professional Training and Mentorship Program
Jumblies Theatre

Professional training and mentorship with Jumblies Theatre includes "Arts for All Essentials," a six-day intensive course offered at least once a year; workshops and seminars on specific practical, theoretical and creative topics; internships lasting from two months to a year; support for incubation and development of new projects; print and digital archives and resources. Duke Center for Civic Engagement
Duke University, Durham
DukeEngage provides funding for Duke undergraduate students to pursue immersive (8-week minimum) civic engagement experiences in Durham, N.C., in cities across the U.S. and abroad. Group programs that focus on the arts available; topics include literacy through photography, empowerment through the arts, creating collaborative historical memory projects and more. In addition to working with nonprofits, students participate in Duke-sponsored readings, historical neighborhood tours and weekly reflection sessions. A pre-departure training, DukeEngage Academy, prepares students to serve across cultures and acknowledge community history and culture. Founded in 2008. Supported by the Duke Endowment and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Internships at Sojourn Theatre
Sojourn Theatre, Portland
Internships available in Performance, Stage Management, Multi-Media and Scenic Design and Lighting Design. Intern experience based on Sojourn Theater’s current projects. Sojourn Theatre is a ten-year-old, multi-ethnic ensemble that is “committed to a consistent investigation of the relationship of artists and audiences to place and architecture during the event of theater.” Visit their web site for application details.

PENNSYLVANIA | Apprenticeship/Internship
Professional Training Apprenticeship
Touchstone Theatre, Bethlehem
The apprenticeship focuses on creating original work in ensemble theater; performing in main production, lab settings and on tour; teaching in educational and community empowerment programs; assisting designers and technicians; supporting the administrative functions. All performance, programming and production work connects to the core of Touchstone's mission to "revitalize the community and ourselves through art." Nine-month program, September-May; includes monthly stipend. Auditions/interviews held each spring.
