« Touching Imagination 5-30-08 | Main | 80 for 12 » June 03, 2008 Touching Imagination 5-30-08Richard Geer - Franklin County, Georgia Computer all but unable to get on. Last night, church night for many, Wednesday. We gave ourself the luxury of three hours on moonshine. The scene will be a comic gem in the play, the great height before the profound passage into the valley of "March in the Rain," and the song, "We Marched in the Rain." Tonight, amazing night. And we are behind. We were scheduled to finish the finale last night. We got only through We Marched in the Rain. It is some of the best work we've done as a team at CPI and reflects the work of all of us from writer, designers, director to choreographer. And it came about only through the courage of this community to speak truth, and then to stand in the place of that memory, and live through and past it. The behind part, I can't give an answer now as to how we'll catch up. What we must do is to metabolize the learning from choreography as rehearsal for the non-musical scenes. The depth of connection, the exaggeration, the focus, the rhythm. The being and doing that Heather's music, Deb's direction, Iega's choreography has taken us to must translate to the piece entire. Rev. Johnson at New Light said we are all visionaries. We create a place in imagination, then we take ourselves and others, through our leadership, to touch it. To touch imagination. We have a very clear picture. Now we must grasp it. |
