Hi there,
The Nonprofit Quarterly is a national magazine for nonprofit managers. In the past we've used stock art to illustrate our articles, but we'd much rather use art created in nonprofits or by artists in association with nonprofits. In the past couple issues (on Youth Development and the after-effects of 9/11) we've had quite a bit of success with this effort. Our next issue of the magazine will have the feature topic of Race and Power.
We would like to know if any artists on this list have art available that we could use as illustration for our articles? We don't expect artists to create original art, and we will pay an honorarium for use of the art. The inside of the magazine is in black and white, but the cover is full-color.
Currently we have the following topics slated to be included:
-a look at the overall picture and nonprofits' role by john powell;
-an interview with Lani Guinier on race and democracy;
-a reprint of the article by Julie Quiroz-Martinez on the link between immigrant rights and civil rights;
-racism among the well-intended by Jon Dovidio;
-Jorge Santiago on leadership in communities of color and gatekeeping;
-how organizations transition and transform themselves once they realize they have a problem; and
-cultural competency in service organizations.
If you think you might have art available, please contact me: noemi@tsne.org or 1-800-281-7770 x251.
Thanks very much for your attention,
Noemi
