If you're interested in art statistics, such as how much money was spent on Broadway shows, or what percentage of Americans do weaving, or how far the NEA budget has dropped since 1980, the Census has released it's 2001 Statistical Abstract to the United States.

You can order a copy of the whole thing, or download sections for free in PDF format. The art section is a quick download. It's actually the "Arts, Entertainment and Recreation" section, so you can do your own comparisons of arts participation vs. sports vs. visits to national parks or whatever.

FYI, weaving was the second most popular arts activity in the country, trailing only "buying art" of the choices surveyed.
