The Chicago Center for Arts Policy is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Director of a major new project, "Learning and the Arts". "Learning and the Arts," will explore the arts' contributions to improving education (K - 12) and developmental opportunities for children and youth. Its strategic focus will be the development of an active and effective network of private funders, with educators, artists and arts organizations, child service organizations, and policymakers. Its objective is to stimulate a critical mass of philanthropic support for new practice and persuasive research on arts-based strategies for improving education and child and youth services. The project has received funding from several sources, and will take place over a 3-year period. The position of Associate Director will be a highly responsible and challenging opportunity for the right person.
The Chicago Center for Arts Policy is a "think tank" for arts and cultural issues and is affiliated with Columbia College Chicago. Through research, communication, and the cultivation of discourse, the Center considers the multiple ways the arts contribute to building a robust democracy and healthy communities, and it advances policies that support these contributions.
