EARTH SMART ARTS USES COMMON HOUSEHOLD TRASH TO
PRODUCE MUSEUM WORTHY WORKS OF ART.

Eco Artist Royce M. Patton Is On A Mission To Add
Another “R” To The Old Adage Reduce, Reuse, Recycle;
Now It’s Time To RECREATE.

Ms. Patton has had two shows at the Museum of Fine
Arts in Boston MA in the past under the name Royce!
Originals. A name that stuck since all of her works
are one of a kind and designed to fit a particular
theme. Were you at the MFA's 100th anniversary of the
Egyptian Exhibit? The Golden Pharaoh Masks were
designed by Royce! And made from old newsprint.

Her newest exhibit “The Goddess Rising” will make it’s
debut during the Goddess Fair in Heritage State Park
on September 9th 2006, from 10:00am - 6:00pm in North
Adams MA, home of MASS MOCA and the Contemporary
Artists Center & Gallery. It will be an interactive
exhibit that will demonstrate the versatility of what
most people consider trash.

By using common household materials, which most people
throw away, Royce is giving us reason to rethink our
values and re-examine our perspective on what trash
really is. The first step is to show others what can
be done with our garbage besides tossing it into a
landfill. The second step will be to teach people how
to create art and craft projects from their own trash.
Last but not least is to spread the news to schools,
community centers and other organizations, so everyone
can begin turning trash into treasures.

Ms. Patton has been designing original theme based art
and theater projects that help organizations present
their message to the public in a fun, creative
atmosphere for more than seventeen years. Some of the
issues covered were drug education, cultural
tolerance, anti violence and discrimination issues as
well as historical themes and classic literature.

The Goddess Rising is a celebration of the strength
and beauty in the divine feminine.

One of the sculptures that will be represented during
the Goddess Fair will be a recreation of Leonardo Da
Vinci’s Madonna of the Carnation. Ms. Patton decided
to work on a piece from a famous artist in order to
prove the versatility of papier-mâché and other “junk”
from around the house. The Madonna was chosen because
of the hidden meanings and messages Da Vinci placed in
his work, Royce thought it would fit perfectly under
the circumstances.

A winged Isis will also be present and individual
feathers can be painted by guests free of charge and
added to the statue, which will stand more than six
feet tall. Ms. Patton is currently looking for
sponsors who can assist with the financial needs of
this project as well as a "home" for the sculptures
once the exhibit is over so they can be viewed and
enjoyed by the general public.

Besides the Museum of Fine Arts, Royce's work has been
on display in Boston City Hall, The State House, the
Contemporary Artists Center and MCLA as well as
several smaller venues.

You can follow this exhibits progress and the process
by watching Royce's care2.com photo album; Earth Smart

Hopefully this venture is only the beginning of a
massive change in the way society treats the
environment. If you are interested in sponsoring this
project please contact the artist or give your
financial support through this paypal address

"We hope you can join us at this event. It truly has
to be seen to be believed. The kind of art I do is
healthy for the environment and educational to the
community. My exhibits are always interactive. I teach
others how to do what I do because the more people
keeping their trash out of the belly of MY MOTHER,
Earth, the better." says Ms. Patton.

NOW THAT'S Earth SmARTs.
