Greetings from Australia. I am doing some resarch on arts and cultural trails. I am looking at all models of artists trails, artistis in residency programs, art communities, artists colonies and open studio schemes. Hoping to investigate internationally later in the year and visit some of the places I have been looking at online. Wanting to set up networks globally between arts communities...set up a kind of exchange of studios and ideas... If you have any leads or comments...happy to hear about them!
cheers

You should check out the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, Calif. They have a formal artist residency set up with Australia.

Thanks Linda, I checked it out and it is a great place for Australian artists to be able t go. The Organisation here that has a link with them is the Australia Council for the Arts. Getting a placement through them is very competitive and difficult however, at least it is something. I want to foster more region to region, town to town, community to community, exchanges. Less centralised and more intimate. But If I am lucky enough to get to the US I will make sure I visit 18th Street arts cos it looks like a great model
thankl you
