Film/Video Production

Hello, I am interested in participating in any community arts program in NYC, focusing on teaching inner-city kids to express themselves through media. Being from a city myself, I would love to turn urban children on to the world of filmmaking. Please if anyone has any information on this let me know?

I have a history in film/video and my own editing system- I would love to collaborate and start up something. Also, I have some experience in community arts. I worked in North Philadelphia on a project called "North Called Home" with Billy Yalowitz. We conducted a multi-media performance revolving around local African American kids-adults and retelling the neighborhood history dating back to the Black Panthers. We combined Video/Theatre/Visual arts, it was an amazing experience, one I would like to be a part of again.

Hello Franceska-

You might want to look into the Educational Video Center (www.evc.org) and the Global Action Project (www.global-action.org). Both organizations have developed very impressive youth media programs with various youth populations. They would probably know of additional resources in the city.
