Hello, I am searching for any Community Arts programs in NYC, involving media production. Being from an inner-city, ideally I would like to volunteer my time in helping city kids use the media (via the camera/editing equipment) to express themselves or maybe learn a new passion.
I own editing equipment and have an Education in film/video production. I would be happy to share what I have and collaborate with others for a good cause. Also, I have some experience in with working with Community Arts programs.
In 2003 I was a field intern for a Community Arts Program in Philadelphia "North Called Home" with Billy Yalowitz. It was an amazing experience. We conducted a multi-media performance, combining visual arts, film/video, and theatre. We focused on African American youth in North Philly and their history stemming back to the Black Panthers. It was so inspiring and I would love to be involved in something similar.
