Hello Kirsten,

I do not know whether I can be of any help. I am a UK based research student and my subject is Youth and Community Arts.

I have been involved with various organizations in this regard and have done small projects with communities.

If interested, I can send you details of the same.

Thanks
Geeta

Geeta,

Thanks for your reply! I would love to know of any organizations you have encountered in your research that do an exemplary job of getting the community involved in the arts, or that work in a unique way.

I am based in Oregon, in the US, but I would be interested in organizations based anywhere in the US/Europe. Let me know if I can be of help to you as well.

take care
Kirsten

Right now there's great energy for small shows in NYC. The best place to hook up is The Change You Want to See, a gallery and convergence space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that showcases visual art pieces representing the culture of resistance. Go to www.thechangeyouwanttosee.org

SKEA (Society for Kona's Education and Art) is a small community arts center, is that what you're looking for? I just became program director. We focus on bringing art into the schools, ongoing adults and children's art programs and spring and summer art camps for children. My email is chantal_18823@msn.com or skea@hawaii.rr.com
