Dom Dziecka Rakowiecka #4 (Children's Home # 4) Warszawa, Polska.
Art Opening of the New and Improved 2nd Floor Hallway!
Please join us on Thursday, March 4th at 6pm.
This Dom Dziecka is located in an old pre-war building, which has been an orphanage since its beginning. The 2nd floor hallway, where a lot of the home's 80 children live was very dreary. The lighting was dim, the carpet ragged, and the walls dirty. After close to 9 months of work, we are proud to invite you to the opening of the new and improved 2nd floor hallway! With the guidance of Community Artist, Laura Evonne and Olga Chwascinska helping with translation, 26 children, youth and staff painted colorful silhouettes of themselves on freshly repainted walls. All of their figures are connected by a colorful painted ribbon. The Dom Dziecka administration was able to get a new tile floor donated and with the motivation of volunteer Sylwia Nowak, we were also able to repair and repaint the doors in the hallway. This was all made possible thanks to a grant from the Puffin Foundation in New Jersey, the financial and human help of AFW (American Friends in Warsaw), generous individuals in Poland, and the Boy Scouts of the American School of Warsaw.
The Administration of the Dom Dziecka has approached us with a special request: the children need spring shoes (for playing outside) and flip-flops (to shower in). Please bring all shoes sizes to the Dom Dziecka on the evening of the opening. The shoes must be new or thoroughly cleaned.
If you are in Warsaw, it would be great to have you attend.

Peace,
Laura Evonne
