e-race: Teens + Speed

e-race.jpg Young people’s attraction and addiction to speed, including street racing and drugs, is the subject of "e-race," a hip-hop musical performance project now out on video. MISCELLANEOUS Productions’ project explores ten young people’s addiction to street racing, drinking/drugging and driving, gangs, crystal meth, racism and sexual activity. "e-race "works backwards in time to expose the root causes of a deadly street race in Richmond, B.C. Written and performed by a cast of culturally diverse, at-risk and mainstream youth in their mid-teens and 20s in collaboration with a team of artists, "e-race" was inspired by real events in urban and smaller communities of British Columbia. The four-year project involved hundreds of young people, parents, educators, crime-prevention professionals, addictions treatment specialists and social workers. [LINK] Posted by Linda Frye Burnham
