iLAND Offers iLAB Residencies

iland.jpg April 7, 2006, is the deadline to apply to iLAB, a new collaborative residency program for movement-based artists and scientists, environmentalists, urban designers, architects and landscape architects. iLAB is a pilot project of iLAND (interdisciplinary Laboratory of Art, Nature and Dance), a new "dance research" organization directed by choreographer Jennifer Monson. iLAND cultivates cross-sector research and has "a fundamental commitment to environmental sustainability as it relates to art and the urban context." The goal of iLAB is to "invigorate and re-imagine relationships between the public and the urban environment through kinetic experience." It will provide cross-sector teams with space, honoraria, administrative support and more. Monson is well known for her national "Bird Brain" dance project following bird migration. See iLAND's Web site for more info and the iLAB RFP. [LINK] Posted by Linda Frye Burnham
