Leeway Announces Support for Trans Artists

The Leeway Foundation has announced an unprecedented funding program for trans ("transgender, transexual and genderqueer") artists creating work in art and social change. The Pennsylvania funder announced, "As a historically women's foundation created to support artists who are underrepresented and under-funded in society because of their gender, Leeway now sees the inclusion of trans artists ... as integral to our work." Leeway funds artists in the Delware Valley, now including Camden County, N.J. Categories include the short-term Art & Change Grant ($2,500; next deadline June 12, 2006) and the Tranformation Award ($15,000; next deadline April 10). Applicant support sessions are every two months. [LINK]
