New on CAN: Some leading eco-artists came together October 15-16, 2005, at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.,
to share their community experiments in solving environmental problems, transforming landscapes and planting seeds of change in Pennsylvania and around the world. New Hampshire eco-artist Cynthia Robinson attended the Groundworks Monongahela Conference and she describes some of the artists’ presentations. She details and comments on four Pennsylvania projects (commissioned before the conference) by Jackie Brookner, Stephanie Flom and Ann Rosenthal; Helen and Newton Harrison; Tom and Connie Merriman; and Laurie Palmer. Robinson also discusses a Kentucky project by Suzanne Lacy, Susan Steinman and Yutaka Kobayashi. Other presenters included Park Fiction from Germany, Ichi Ikeda from Japan and Navjot Altaf of India.
